Chosing a Paint Color for a Baby's Room

Baby's Room
Nursery

Chosing a color scheme for a baby's room is the first thing that new parents will be faced with when they find out the sex of the baby, some new parents never know the sex of the baby or either do not want to know. Either way, chosing a color to paint the baby's room will have a big impact on how your baby will react or act. Colors that have a calming effect will ensure your baby will sleep comfortably in his or her room.

If you are one of those new parents who do not have prior knowledge of the sex of the baby, and are wanting to decorate and paint the new baby's room in a color the is suitable for either sex, choose a color in the green family. This color is good for both sexes and has a calming effect. Yellows, orange and red colors tend to produce a stimulating effect and should not be used in a bedroom setting. Blues, pinks and lilac colors are also great colors for a baby's room.

If you are still struggling with making a decission on the paint color, try getting samples of several different colors and apply them to the walls of the nursery. The samples should be large enough to give you a feel for the color. If it irratates you, it will irratate your new baby.

For those who have found the ideal color, but you can not find that exact color on any color chart at any paint counter, don't get discouraged. Porter Paints in Tallahassee can help you will any color and can match any color that you can find.
